Latest driver for Intel Pro 2100 does not work with LEAP

If you have a wireless network based on CISCO base stations and use LEAP authentication then the latest driver

Intel (R) Pro/Wireless 2100 LAN miniPCI Adapter, v.1.2.3.10, 7.1.3.0, A16 will NOT work.

Version 1.2.2.8 will connect but I have so many issues with this miniPCI card that I have given up using it. I only use an external PCMCIA card now.

Nik_IT-

I was having the same problem and resolved it by checking the "Enable Cisco Compatible Extensions" in Step 1 of the Profile Setup wizard (Intel PROSet). Hope this helps...

btw, I am using v.1.2.3.10, 7.1.3.0, A16

Thanks for the feed-back.

I tried the Cisco Client Extensions. They don't work for me on the latest release of the driver but on the one-before-last they do.

Even with the one-before-last driver the perfomance is so unstable I have resorted to using an external PCMCIA card.

I have the same problem but with my Intel Wireless/Pro 2200 BG.

The driver version v.8.0.12.12000 8.0.0.162, A00 (R72810) worked fine with LEAP authentification.

As soon as I updated the driver to the latest version v.8.1.0.26, 8.1.0.44, A03 (R82163) the application zcfgsvc.exe crashes and the wireless card will no more connect with LEAP authentification. However, it is working with only WEP authentification.

Does anyone experienced the same problem?

DELL support, is this a known issue?

Best

Problem:

Latitude D600, trying to add Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG.

Symptom:

Try to install Dell driver R82163, and R72810, got the following message if I run autorun.exe “The Intel® PROSet for Wireless installation terminated before completion”.  If I run iSetup.exe under the PROSet folder I get the following message” Error 1904.Module C:\WINT\system32\WLANDLL.dll failed to register.  HRESULT -2147221164. Contact your support personnel”.  If I ignore the WLANDLL.dll error and continue on with the installation when PROSet start I will get the following error “ZCfgSvc.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.”  At this point LEAP would not work correctly however I am able connect to network that does not required LEAP.

Solution:

I perform that the following steps to my machine I don’t know which step fix the problem for my but it would.  I will list them all hopefully will benefit someone if they have a similar problem.

Uninstall PROSet if you already have it install but LEAP is not working for you.

Ran System File Checker SFC-going to command prompt type in SFC and let it do it thing.

Under Device Manager View Show Hidden Device uninstall the WLAN Transport

Uninstall and reinstall TCP/IP protocol

Reboot machine

Download R86140.EXE from Dell support site run Sinstall.exe

At this point everything about this card (including LEAP) work  for me.

Good Luck!
