limited or no connectivity

After downloading sp2 and other upgrades, my wireless connection finally worked for 2 weeks, then on Friday, my status was limited or no connectivity even though the signal was good.  I read about this everywhere and have reloaded the intel prowireless 2100 driver 3 times, tried the winsock program and have literally spent hours trying to fix the problem.  Is there a patch for this problem? I have the 8600 w/ 1.4 centrino.

I wasn't asking about the Windows firewall.  Do you have any Norton or McAfee products running on your computer?  Most Dell computers are shipped with one of these products.

As a troubleshooting step, can you connect to the internet through the router using a wired ethernet connection?

No, I disabled Windows firewall temperarily and that didn't help.  I believe it worked with the firewall on.

If it worked for 2 weeks after installing SP2, you can't blame SP2.  Are you running any firewalls such as those provided by Norton Internet Security, McAfee Security Suite, or Zone Alarm?  If so, is it possible that you somehow reconfigured the firewall to block the connection?

I don't have norton or mcafee installed.  Mcafee slowed things down, so I use AVG.  It does connect to the internet thru the ethernet.

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.  Note that you should do this with the router turned on and the ethernet cable unplugged.

P.S.  I deleted all wireless drivers(5 different locations-same driver) and ran the intel program to install the latest driver.  My wireless printer then connected fine.  Then I shut down the computer, turned it on later and could not find the connection, but found the internet wireless connection, but it still won't connect even though it says it is connected.

Your ipconfig output shows that you are connecting to the router, getting an IP address from the router, and getting the proper dns server addresses from the router, so the internet connection should work.   To further troubleshoot the problem try opening a command prompt window and typing the command ping dell.com then try the command ping 143.166.83.230  Report back the results for each.
