Wireless connection problems....

I am running: I6000 with Windows XP.

My problem:  Every morning during my normal morning rituals, I turn on my computer, walk away for a bit while it loads, about 5 min later after starting the coffee and various other things, I return and am ready to rock.  This morning was something crazy, because when I get back, it still had not loaded, and didn't look like it was going to anytime soon.  The Hard drive light was blinking a bit to rhythmically, and only my backgroud photo had loaded.  I sit and watch for a but and the hard drive light begings to go and I think all is well.  An error comes up from my Symantec (Nortom Internet Security) that said "Symantic Email Proxy cannot scan your email messages because your network is not properly configures.    1003,13 ".  Before this morning I have never seen this message, and it I have to hit "ok" a bunch of times because it keeps coming up.

Now, the Dell Wireless WLAN card Utility shows an "excelent" signal but in the Link Status, has been running for more then an hour with no Packets sent or Packets received.  The Wireless Network Connection through Windows normally shows signal strength and such but now is stating not connected.

These are my problems and both started this morning.  Any advice??

Thanks,
 Chado

Does your wireless network work if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking support?

There is a Help file on your computer which you could use to answer simple quesitons like this.

Basically, restart the computer and then start tapping the F8 key.  You should get a menu with several choices, one of which is Safe Mode with Network Support.  Note that Safe Mode does not load any of your startup programs, and does not load high resolution graphics, so your screen will have very large icons.   If your network works in Safe Mode, it tells you that something loading from startup in Normal Mode is messing things up (probably Norton), and will give you a clue as to where to look for the problem.

So once I do that then what??  Its wonderful to be in safe mode but........then what....?????   Im trying to understand you all, but talk like I am a retard....  I sell software and its because me, your software even exists.... Because you know as well as I do that Mac is that much better tell me what to do....  But you know what, not funny at all, from my point of view or any others that I talk to, I am about to switch to Mac...  So I restarted in safe mode, so what???   What am I to do then?  Just as you want to know what Operating system I have, I want to know what to do next....... I cant be the only one..... Listen, I sell over a Million dollars of software a year that uses your system.....   So please don't screw with me......

Once you are in Safe Mode with Network Support you are going to see if the wireless connection works!!  The point here is that if it works in Safe Mode, it gives us a clue as to where the problem might be.  So, does the wireless connection workin Safe Mode or not?  That's all I'm asking.

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.  Do this with Windows running in Normal mode.
