Scripting Poweredge updates

Is it possible to script updates from the CD or copy the cd files to a network share and script the updates? Also is there a log of what updates need to be performed? I need to provide this to the Change mgmt board so they can approve the updates. I also need a log of what succeeded and failed to complete the process.

Is there a Dell service that will do the updates of firmware, bios, drivers. I've seen some posting about ITA? What is this product?

Thanks,

Are there any Dell people monitoring this site or what? I found my own solution via ITA but I would have thought this question would have been answered by now esp. since ITA will do most of what I'm asking.

Perhaps they didn't reply because they're embarrassed to admit they don't have an easier way to batch-update firmware other than using IT Assistant.  A bootable CD that scans and updates all applicable system firmwares is a much easier solution.  One vendor that provides such a utility is HP.  I wish Dell would release and maintain a similar utility.

Here is some info about the nature of these boards.

Dell does have a (bootable) CD that can do updates, if I'm not mistaken, but I'm not sure how you would get it (downloadable, have to call Dell support, etc).

This appears to be the newest PowerEdge Updates disc, which says it will update BIOS and device firmware on most PowerEdge server models:

I just downloaded it for my datacenter, so we'll see how it works shortly.
