Didn't it always make "lots of loud grinding and whirring sounds"?  Mine sure does, and it's only a couple of months old.  Another gripe: have to wait for the thing to "warm up" before punching in the fax number.  Does it really need to warm up to let me key in the number to dial? :smileysurprised:
