Need help re-attatching the encoder strip, please!

Question

I have a Dell V305w and the encoder strip has come completely off. (both sides) I found a forum post somewhere in which someone said you put it down into these little slots on either side, but I am unable to locate these "slots" or "tabs". I have looked and looked, and tried for hours, to re-attach this thing. I am concerned that I'm putting it in the wrong place and I don't want to damage the strip by doing it wrong.

There is a tiny black arrow on one end of the strip. I need to know if that is the left end or the right, in addition to where to attach them inside the printer. I know how to slide it into the guide on the carrier, just need to know where to put these ends.

Please help me fix this; I really don't want to buy a new printer and this one is out of warranty. And please don't post the link on how to clean the strip, that does me no good.

masteriles,   Closest instructions that I have with pictures are located at...   Cleaning the encoder strip (Loud bang from printer carriage)     Rick

masteriles,   From other members, I think it snaps or slides into place. It is very brittle, so be very careful not to break it.   I also found THIS THREAD with some type of instructions.     Rick

I have looked at that post/those pictures several times. Unfortunately there is nothing that shows where it is attached or how.  Do you know how to attach it?   ~N

Thank you for trying to help. I checked the other thread and after examining and trying every technique I can think of, I have come to the conclusion that the places I was trying to hook it to ARE right, because they are the exact length apart, but there must have been something holding the one end on, perhaps it broke off or something and that is why it came off in the first place.

I have decided to just go ahead and buy another one. I think it is a losing battle at this point.
