mp4, aac, etc. and DME

Hi,

I hope someone can help me with this problem.  I have Dell Media Experience installed and would love to use it for my .mp4 collection.  I have already installed the necessary codec to play these files in Windows Media Player and have even added all these files to my Media Player Library under the heading other media types.  So, my question is, why can Windows Media Player find these files now but not Dell Media Experience?  Is there a way to change a registry setting etc. that will make Dell Media Experience search for these files as well?  Even if this were possible, would Dell Media Experience even be able to play these files?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I had the same problem w/ DMX not recognizing Matroska video files (.MKV)...  Windows Media Player and other players saw the files fine...  I got around this is DMX by changing the extension from .mkv to .avi.  I can now view the files in DMX as well as in WMP and they appear to have the same functionallity (ie subtitles and additional audio streams) as they did as a .mkv file.

The only issue that I have seen with it that the contect menu options on the Matroska files that I change that way no longer appears.  Not a big deal, since I can still manipulate the file using the matroska setting and such....

I must admit that I have not tried that fix on other file types, but hopefully it will work for you... please let me know.

Thanks
