Sorry-----hit the wrong key---hadn't finished my thoughts.......

Also, the tool gives the options of 1--auto fix   2--manual fix.....Auto fix is very alluring----but-----I'm always leary about any/all auto fixes.....I still prefer to know exactly what's being done and how....If the 'auto fix' 'knows' what it detected, why can't it tell us exactly what it found so we can investigate before allowing it to fix it.....and.....as a guide for us if we choose to do the 'manual fix'.....??

Otherwise, it installed nicely and is operating without any problems that I know of.....So---thanx Dell---I continue to be a satisfied customer.....

In the More Details it tells you how to do it manually if you don't want to do that autofix.

Take a look next time.

It sure is nice to just do it instead of reading stuff that never makes sense to me.

Hi Rapor........Thanx for your reply.....I do agree it would be nice to be able to just click "Fix It".........amd in many cases I'll probably do just that---but.........the message that I'd like to know more about before taking any action is the following:

"Remove invalid startup entires......There are invalid entries in you Startup applications list.  Some of your startup applications will not load because their shortcuts point to non-existent files. More details---click---etc".....

The "More Details" does give steps to remove the offenders manually but I don't know exactly which shortcuts in the Startup are considered invalid....and.....I'm not experienced enough to take matters in my own hands....

That's why I suggest on a message like this one:  If the Dell Support program found something invalid, why can't it go one step further and tell me exactly which entries it determined to be 'invalid' so I can at least have a record of it in case there's a future problem etc.....Just a thought.....!!!......

Thanx again for your reply......

Because of all the worries with viruses etc, I think it would have been better if there had been some kind of advance announcement sent out to let us know it was coming / available.....

I was surprised when I clicked the link to the "silent install" with how quick and easy the instant load and install happened.

You should let it do an "auto-fix" once, just to watch, It's like when you do a 'remote control' connect to your IT expert and you then sit and watch your cursor move around under his control.

Except that Dell's "auto-fix" does it slowly and deliberately and you still get to 'accept' the result or stop it anytime:)
