CD DRIVE PROBLEMS
I had recently upgraded my system from Windows 98 to Windows ME and when I put in an audio CD to listen to it plays at a faster speed. I can load different software into the drives and it will load into my computer just fine, but it sounds like the audio cd is playing at 1.5 times its normal speed.
Please tell me what to do.

and see if that helps. The sound card driver is the more common reason. If
that does not help, try reloading the IDE Controller.

It seems as though that my computer doesn't have a sound card. Friend of mine said that it has built in drivers and on-board sound. It also seems like I am having problems with some disks playing back in my E drive. You see before, when I had Windows 98 there was a disk that I have that I save a lot of video clips and pictures to that I get in my e-mail and I continue to add to the disk. Now when I try to put it in the same drive it tells me to insert disk into the E drive. It acts as though the E drive isn't working, however it will work with a program disk.
Would appreciate any help you can give me.

You may have integrated sound (the sound is part of the motherboard). The driver for that
will be available under the Downloads Tab at the top of this page. If that doesn't help,
try reloading the IDE Controller drivers. They are also available also under the Downloads
Tab.
The disk writing problem is a seperate one. When you had Win98, it sounds like you used
packet writing software (such as ROXIO DirectCD or Nero InCD). That same software has to
be installed with WinME for the disk to be recognized. If it is, you may have to update
it from the suppliers Web Site.

I will try that with the sound and see if that works.
as far as the cd burner....you are correct I did have roxio 5 on there. Sounds like I will have to buy that program and reinstall it on the computer.

Since you are using ROXIO Easy CD Creator 5, go to the ROXIO Web Site and
update it to the latest version here ............
http://www.roxio.com/en/support/ecdc/software_updatesv5.jhtml
If you have the Basic version, use the update at the bottom of the page.
If you have the Platinum version, use the update at the top of the page.
DO NOT mix the two versions.
