Dell replacement drive question

Dell sent out a replacement drive with my factory image  a couple weeks for my 8500 with Windows 8 on it . I noticed on this drive it has a partition for the system EFI , another 40 MB OEM parition and another 490 MS recovery partition which I assume  that one is windows 8 ?  I did not see a OEM image  partition on HD , not sure if on a replacement drive it is not suppose to have this or not ?  Just wondering because if I have a problem in future and have to go through the windows repair options and there is not a factory image there will it just roll up back to the windows  recovery partition?  I also noticed the Dell back up and recovery program was not downloaded along with everything else on My Dell on my new hard drive . Anyone have any thoughts on this ?    Thanks !

Hi Gator957,

The recovery partition will not be shown on the hard drive and it is hidden. If there is an issue with the operating system you can do a factory reset as the recovery partition would be available on the hard drive.

Hi Harish M

Thanks for your quick reply!!  I also could not find the partition on the diskpart commd prompt , is it hidden there as well ? I know on my wifes Inspiron 660 with Windows 7 she has about a 16 GB recovery partition that is visible in disk management

Hi Gator957,

In this case the hard drive is replaced; I don’t think the recovery partition is active. Also read the below thread for more info.
