Installing a new drive and XP
I've decided that the original C drive should probably be replaced with an 80G HD I have since the XP upgrade from Dell really messed things up. My understanding is that once I put the new drive in and make the CD rom bootable with the XP disk in, the new C drive will be formatted and XP installed. Correct? I realize I will lose all data on that drive but plan to back it up with an external prior to installation.

Correct! If you are using the upgrade disk it will ask you for proof of a previous version and at that point you just stick in old CD, wait a little bit until the program moves to next screen, then put the upgrade CD back in and continue.

My personal opinion is that it makes no difference, but it will be one less step to use the non-upgrade version.
