IE 7 gives error Res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm# and has performance problems.
To Support,
1. IE7 won't work any longer. When clicking on "Diagnose Connection Problems" I get Res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm# in the Addressbar. Happened last week out of the blue.

The thread suggests it might have to do with malware investation and I would be grateful if yo checked teh blog below for me. I am working with Fire fox now.
Elsewhere I found info too and have tried several of the less complicated things. (disabled spam filter, ran without add ons. Updated my virus scanner, Trend Micro 07, scanned for virus, did a SYSTEM RESTORE, will run Adaware tonight, have disabled all firewalls and have reenabled one again, restarted the router, got briefly access to the MS update site and installed MS validation tool 892130, reinstalled IE7, RIES (reset IE settings) but all with no success.
2. PC has been slow, unstable for 1 month now. Shuts down with strange Windows image. Error msgs I encountered are "Runtime error has occurred in a script, no debuggers are rebistered that can debg this exception. Unable to JIT debug. error line 145."
3. Word is unstable, get "Winword .exe application error . "Not enough quota to process this command".

some more info: Additionally I now ran Adaware, Checkdisk, did most of the suggestions of the above MS discussion thread, like investigating where IE7 sotres the Temp internet files but no success. I removed IE7 and automatically installed IE6 which is working fine now.
However, I now nitced that all the 4 profiles (family memebers) on my PC show their FAVORITES in THEIR profile as MY OWN Name favorites, e.g. c:\docs and sett\peter\Peters favrites, whereas it should be c:\docs and sett\Mary\Marys Favorites, c:\docs and sett\Anne\Annes Favorites etc. Still all THEIR favorites are visible.
I deleted some unused programs and removed some from the Startup folder to increase log on speed, too, with modest success.
I re ran the MS updates and all seems to work fine so far.
Still, if s.o. could check throught the Hijack this posting below I'd be grateful, since I'd like to root out the IE7 problem.

I am getting the same error message, Res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm, and cannot connect using IE7 on my Inspiron laptop. Auto Update installed XP SP3 and all associated updates, and the laptop is running very slow and sluggish, and now I cannot connect to the internet via IE7.
So far, I have ran all spyware and virus programs, and cleaned out the cache of everything. Shut down all virus programs, shut down all firewalls and still am unable to connect. I deleted all updates, and tried to restore to a previous date but was unsuccessful. I uninstalled IE7 and installed FireFox and still could not connect. I reinstalled IE7 and still receive the same error message.
I checked out my modem, wireless and everything else everything is fine. My desktop is on the same router and modem, and works fine as well. The thing is, I can connect and download with LimeWire with no problems, so I know it is not the connection. Ive read all kinds of other threads on many forums and have tried it all with no luck. Anyone else have this and have a fix?

Okay, after a weeks worth of trying to fix this issue, I finally got past this issue. I restarted in Safe Mode and then ran System Restore, and was finally able to get online using IE7.
But, I still have no clue as to why this happened. I know I deleted the SP3 and all the updated associate with it, and believe it was connected to that.
Maybe Microsoft will come up with a fix one day.
