See if the information HERE is useful. It would do no harm to download and install the appropriate engine for your Windows version.

It seems a number of programs of late are having trouble with the Microsoft Installer particularly, custom versions of it. It may be worth a shot to try a "Clean Install" of the software using the instructions from the Sonic site:

To perform a clean reinstallation of RecordNow.

Uninstall the current copy of RecordNow and Update Manager using the "Add/Remove Programs," control panel.

Delete the "RecordNow," folder from your hard drive. (By default this is located inside: C:\Program Files\Sonic\)

Edit the Registry to remove entries relating specifically to RecordNow. (As a precaution, please export any registry entries before deleting them.) To start the Registry Editor, click on "Start," click on to "Run," type "regedit," and click "OK." Open the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder. (If this folder does not exist, proceed to below.)

Open the "Software" folder. Open the "Sonic" folder. Right-click on the "RecordNow" folder and select delete.

Open the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" folder. Open the "Software" folder. Open the "Sonic" folder. Right-click on the "RecordNow" folder and select delete.

Close the Registry Editor.

Open C:\Documents and Settings\-username-\Application Data\Sonic and right click on RecordNow and select delete.

Restart your computer.

Reinstall RecordNow.

I cannot uninstall ANY Sonic program through "Add/Remove Programs". It says I'm missing specific .msi files....

I actually had found these instructions before on the Sonic site and tried everything (but the uninstall part) and it didn't work.

Thanks for tring to help, though, I really appreciate the effort!

Ah.  I understood that the program was uninstalled and you were getting the error attempting to reinstall.  Since you cannot remove it normally, the Microsoft Uninstaller Cleanup Utility may be useful:
