Have you tried booting into Safe Mode?  You might get away with just doing a System Restore?

It'll also allow you to backup any important files as well, in the event a System Restore doesn;t work for some reason?

Does your system have a 'Recovery' partition on it?

If it does, there'll be a specific key combination you need to press (i.e. CTRL + F11) to access it, and restore your system to its factory settings.

It should be mentioned in the manual?

If you don't have a recovery partition, you'll have to use the Dell OS disc you got with the system, and either do a 'Repair' install, or a 'clean' install (Google them if you're unsure of what they mean).

If you have to do one or other of those, make sure you've got the 'Drivers & Utilities' CD etc (which you should've received with the system) handy.

Alternatively... download the latest drivers for your system from the 'Drivers & Downloads' section for your system on the Dell website, and either copy them to a pendrive, or burn them to a CD/DVD.
