My Dimension XPS 400 is in pretty rough shape.  I think a formatting of the hard drive and reinstall of Windows 98 is in order.  What driver files for the internal components must I have on hand - anything beyond the video card, sound card, modem?  I have a Resource CD but there is no documentation on how I'm supposed to use it to install drivers.  And does it have all the drivers I would need?

Finally...would I be better off just to buy a basic system - about $600 - $700 -(for word processing, power points, some spreadsheets and internet/email)?  That would have a lot more processing power and would run XP.  Thanks.
