Weird mouse behavior

Hi, i've a new Vostro 400, and it have a small problem with the mouse. It seems to be random and is a bit annoying. The mouse action zone, usually the superior part of the arrow, changes to inferior zone. It is complety random, sometimes it works well, and sometimes it works the other way.

I've searched on the net and i haven't found anything similar.

I don't know if its a vista issue, a mouse problem or what.

Thanks.

I've see my mouse and all their buttons (it's a dell one, with lateral buttons, and the scroll button can be moved to left o right).  The mouse its a wired one. I've a friend that have the same problem with the mouse and a grafical tablet (not a dell computer).

In any case i'll try with another mouse and see the results, but it seems like a problem of the system, the mouse works correcty (it doesn't move randomly or anything similar), only that when i press the left button sometimes it doesn't apply the action where it must be applied, the superior part of the arrow.

Ordinary mouse or wireless? Ordinary--Go to Control Panel, Mouse properties and see if the settings are correct. Quick way to reach the Mouse in Control Panel-- just type Mouse in the Search box at top. Make sure the correct mouse is pictured, settings are all what you want. You might install MS Intellipoint software available free at MS Downloads if you have a MS Mouse. Another thing to consider--a defective mouse. Test it by trying another one. If it is that, call Dell and they will send you another one.
