XP update without "windows update"
I just bought WP home (Finnish language) for my mother. The version I bought is version 2002. Problem is that my mother has a dial-up modem and getting all the updates would take too long with that. I have a cable modem though, and I could download the updates for her and then install them from a cd. But where do I get these updates and how do I know which ones to download? Is there a site where I could get all the updates (at least critical ones) after the release of sp1 which i managed to find?
And secondly: how do I install the updates? Do I just click them and they will install or what?
Thank you.

You can download and save to disk any updates from the windows update catalog
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/en/default.asp
Follow the links. etc. Most updates will have a read more link that gives info about what it is for.
Beware, if your mother's Window is in Finnish, to set the language to Finnish at the apprpriate place!
Once copied to your mother's drive (I mean her PC's drive :-), double clicking the downloadeded .exe file will start the install.

At the link JRosenfeld provided make sure you select critical updates for Windows XP SP1 not Windows Home Edition SP1. The latter will only list updates to .NET in various languages and one update to Windows Media Player.
