Cause

Firewall inbound rules need to be created to allow connection between Master server and Worker(s).

Resolution

Note: When Creating firewall inbound rules, it depends also on the organization's policies on how many connections you need to be allowed:

1. On the Native Archive server(s), create firewall inbound rules to allow connections to the following EMC SourceOne services:

- EMC SourceOne Archive (ExAsArchive.exe)
- EMC SourceOne Query (ExAsQuery.exe)

To access the Windows Firewall management console, from Start\Run:
- Type wf.msc
- From Inbound Rules, create a new rule
- Choose "Custom"
- Choose "This program path"
- Browse to ExAsArchive.exe
- Accept the defaults
- Under window "When does this rule apply?"
- Check only "Domain"
- Give the new rule a relevant and meaningful name
- Follow same steps to create an other rule for ExAsQuery.exe

2. On the Native Archive server(s) and Worker(s), create firewall inbound ICMP rule for ICMPv4
(Note: this rule may not be needed as might be present and enabled already)

From Start\Run:
- Type wf.msc
- From inbound rules, create a new rule
- Choose "Custom", click Next
- Click Next
- Under "protocol type", choose "ICMPv4"
- Accept the defaults
- Under window "When does this rule apply?"
- Check only "Domain"
- Give the new rule a relevant and meaningful name

3. On each Native Archive server(s) and Worker(s) server(s) , enable the rule called "Enable COM+ Network Access (DCOM-In)":

From Start\Run:
- Type wf.msc
- From inbound rules, enable the rule.

4. Enable the Domain Firewall profile in WF.msc console

5. Reboot all re-configured server(s).
