Dell Power Manager gives you complete control over your battery settings to help maximize your system's battery life. This tool prevents overheating, avoids slow performance, and notifies you of issues related to the power adapter, battery, and more. To install Dell Power Manager, open a web browser and go to Dell.com/Support.
Identify your system automatically or by typing in the service tag. Click on Drivers and Downloads, then expand to access the complete list of drivers and downloads for your system. Choose your operating system and set the category to Systems Management. Scroll down and download the Dell Power Manager service update file. Open the file when it finishes downloading and follow the instructions to install the update. Restart the computer when the process is completed.
To open Dell Power Manager, click on the Windows Start button, type Dell Power Manager into the search bar, and open the result. If your device is plugged in for long periods, select adaptive mode, primarily AC use mode, or custom mode to limit the battery charge threshold and help prolong battery life.
To select a mode, click on Battery Information and select Settings, choose your preferred mode, and click OK. Close Dell Power Manager when finished. Dell Power Manager includes several useful features: Battery Information: Displays health information for up to six installed batteries and allows custom battery settings, surface temperature monitoring, and fan noise management.
Advanced Charge: Controls battery charging to prolong battery life. Battery Extender: Conserves battery charge by adjusting CPU power, screen brightness, keyboard illumination, and muting audio. It can also switch the system to battery power automatically during certain times of the day. Thermal Management: Controls processor and fan settings to manage performance, surface temperature, and fan noise.
