Avamar: MCS Does Not Start Due to RabbitMQ Misconfiguration

MCS does not start with the errors seen below:

        at com.rabbitmq.client.impl.SocketFrameHandler.readFrame(SocketFrameHandler.java:131)
        at com.rabbitmq.client.impl.AMQConnection$MainLoop.run(AMQConnection.java:515)
Administrator Server startup failed at Tue Aug 08 12:33:20 EDT 2023: Closing all connections to database. Node start failed.
Starting REST API Service....
REST API Service startup failed.
Start MC Rest: processing time = 10 s.

 

Cause

The root cause is being unable to connect the RabbitMQ dynamic shovels with a DPC that is monitoring Avamar at the time that MCS is starting.

 

Resolution

Temporarily disable the BRM service by setting the following parameter to false in mcserver's xml configuration file.

/usr/local/avamar/var/mc/server_data/prefs/mcserver.xml

Start MCS.

 

Because a DPC is likely set to monitor the Avamar, the DPC automatically sets the key "enableBrmService" back to true after MCS starts.
