Announcement

The Dell BSAFE Product Team announces the general availability of Dell BSAFE Micro Edition Suite 5.0.2.1. This release embeds the Dell BSAFE Crypto-C Micro Edition 4.1.5 FIPS 140-2 cryptographic module.

Fixes for the following issues are being addressed in this release:
  • When using a PKCS #11 device, TLS handshake using the Secure Connection API (R_SC) attempted to negotiate a signature scheme not supported by the PKCS #11 token holding that key.
  • Compilation error caused by an old format function declaration in r_cm_inf_pwri_w.h.
This release also adds support for operating systems that were not initially supported in BSAFE Micro Edition Suite 5.0, that were supported in version 4.6.x. Platforms supported by BSAFE Micro Edition Suite MES 4.6.x that have not reached End-Of-Life / End-Of-Support are now only supported via the BSAFE Micro Edition Suite 5.x release branch.

With this release, the BSAFE Product Team is advancing the End Of Service Life date of BSAFE Micro Edition Suite 4.6.2, and all 4.6.x, from February 2024 to September 2023.

As MES 5.0.x is API/ABI compatible with MES 4.6.x, upgrading to MES 5.0.2.1 is not expected to cause any issues.

Dell BSAFE Product Version Life Cycle has been updated accordingly.
