Cause

This issue results from a compatibility problem with the DD Boost library version 7.2.0.5 build 654364 embedded in Avamar 19.3.100-149 WC and NC clients. The problem happens when these clients connect to Data Domain systems running DD OS 7.2.0.40-664052 or later.

Resolution

Upgrade all affected Avamar WC and NC clients to Avamar version 19.4 or later.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Download the Avamar 19.4 client software for the appropriate operating system.
  2. Upgrade the Avamar Client on all affected systems.
  3. Verify successful client registration and connectivity to the Data Domain system.
  4. Run test backups to confirm normal operation.

No configuration changes or workarounds are available for Avamar 19.3.100-149 clients with the affected DD OS versions.

Additional Information

  • Avamar 19.3.100-149 clients are not compatible with Data Domain OS 7.2.0.40-664052 or later when using the embedded DD Boost library.
  • Dell recommends keeping compatible Avamar Client, DD Boost, and Data Domain OS versions as documented in the Avamar Compatibility Guide.
  • This issue affects both Avamar Windows Clients and Non‑Windows Clients using Data Domain Boost.
