The following article provides information about an issue with the Alienware Command Center application not working. When you manually set the fixed fan speed on your Alienware Area 51m computer it does not react.

Can you hear the fan noise change when you manually set speed?

You will notice that when the fan speed is set manually, the fans will not react to the changes that have been made.

For example, if the fans are set to 100%, they will not change speed and will instead remain at their current speed.

Solution Steps

Updating your computer to the latest BIOS version will help resolve the issue. To download and install the latest BIOS:

Warning: It is recommended that you disconnect external peripherals like external hard disk drives, printers, scanners before updating the BIOS on your Dell computer.
 
Warning: Dell laptops must have the battery installed and charged to at least 10% before you begin the BIOS update. Dell recommends running the laptop on AC power before proceeding with the update process.

  1. Browse to the Dell Support Site.

  2. Enter the Service Tag or Express Service Code and click Search.

    Alternatively, you can choose the Alienware Area-51m from the product list to get a general list of drivers for that computer.

  3. On the left, click the Drivers and Downloads tab.

  4. Ensure you have selected the correct operating system.

  5. Under Category, select BIOS.

  6. Locate the latest Alienware Area-51m System BIOS.

  7. Click Download and save the file to your computer.

  8. Open File Explorer and browse to the location where the downloaded file is saved.

  9. Double-click the BIOS setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
