Resolution

Solution

  1. Verify the file system's current status.

    • Enterprise Manager
      1. Enterprise Manager is launched from a web browser addressed to the Data Domain system host name or IP address.
      2. Login to the Enterprise Manager with a username and password.
      3. Click on the system in question under "Systems" on the "Summary" page (there may only be one).
      4. The status of the filesystem is displayed in the "File System" section on the lower left. The file system can be "Running" or "Disabled".
    • Command line

      1. From the command line, run:
        filesys status
The filesystem is disabled and shutdown: [filesys disabled].
If the file system is disabled, the reason will be displayed in the "[ ]". In the above example, it was disabled with the command filesys disable .
  2. If the file system is disabled, enable the filesystem.

    • Enterprise Manager

      1. From the "Status" page, click on the "File System" box. This will bring up the "Data Management" --> "File System" --> "Overview".
      2. On the right, above the "Overview" box, click the "Tasks" drop down. A list of tasks that can be performed will be displayed.
      3. Select "Enable...".
  • Command line

    1. Type the command:
      filesys enable
      Please wait.........
      The filesystem is now enabled.

Note: Contact your support provider if the file system has shut down, or failed and can not be enabled.
