Symptoms
The PowerPath Linux host cannot connect to PowerPath Management Appliance (PPMA) as the PowerPath Management service cannot start per the following error:
Mar 30 12:26:35 ner02or-00471 emcp_mond.sh: /sbin/emcp_mond: error while loading shared libraries: libjson-c.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Mar 30 12:26:35 ner02or-00471 root: emcp_mond.sh: Error starting PowerPath Management Daemon Mar 30 12:26:35 ner02or-00471 emcp_mond.sh: Error starting PowerPath Management Daemon
Cause
This is due to libjson-c.so.2 libraries not being installed on the Linux host.
In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5, json-c is not installed by default in the minimal installation, and it is advised to install the package separately.
Resolution
It is advised to install json-c libraries separately and start the PowerPath Management service afterwards when the PowerPath Linux host can be added to PPMA.
Additional Information
This is also documented in the PowerPath documentation.
