Instructions

Querying the Counter:

Oscillating Failure counters are viewed using:

Command

query_oscillating_failure_counter_parameters

Syntax

scli --query_oscillating_failure_counter_parameters --failure_counter ( (--protection_domain_id | --protection_domain_name ) | | (((--protection_domain_id | --protection_domain_name ) --storage_pool_name ) | --storage_pool_id ))

The oscillating failure counter to be queried:
For our convenience, the counters are grouped as follows:

Counter Group A (MDM SDS-related counters):

  • mdm_sds_network_disconnections
  • sds_sds_network_disconnections
  • sds_decoupled
  • sds_configuration_failures
  • sds_receive_buffer_allocation_failures

Counter Group B (SDC-related counters):

  • sdc_mdm_network_disconnections
  • sdc_sds_network_disconnections
  • sdc_long_operations
  • sdc_memory_allocation_failures
  • sdc_socket_allocation_failures

Counter Group C (SDS device-related counters):

  • sds_device_long_successful_ios

Example:

scli --query_oscillating_failure_counter_parameters --failure_counter sds_device_long_successful_ios --protection_domain_name pd10 --storage_pool_name sp18

Resetting the counter:

Reset the specified oscillating failure counters to zero. This can be useful when a problem is fixed and you want to ensure that an alert is no longer active in the system. Reset counters for the entire system, per Protection Domain, or per Storage Pool

Command

reset_oscillating_failure_counters

Syntax

scli --reset_oscillating_failure_counters (--failure_counter ( ((--protection_domain_id | --protection_domain_name ) | --all_sds) | --all_sdc | ((((--protection_domain_id | --protection_domain_name ) --storage_pool_name ) | --storage_pool_id ) | --all_devices) | --all_counters)

Example:

scli --reset_oscillating_failure_counters --failure_counter sdc_mdm_network_disconnections --all_sdc

In the situations of SDCs and SDSs' disconnection, if the presentation server does not clear the errors that occurred even if the system is all connected, use the below command:

scli --reset_oscillating_failure_counters --all_counters --failure_counter sdc_sds_network_disconnections --all_sdc

Additional Information

Resetting the specified oscillating failure counters to zero can be useful when an issue was fixed and you must ensure that an alert is no longer active in the system.
