Data Domain: How to create CIFS shares to upload .rpm files to System Manager

This article details an alternative method of uploading .rpm files to System Manager using the CIFS protocol.
Applies to:
- All Data Domain systems
- All Software Versions
- Microsoft Windows
- Common Internet File System
Solution
- Log in to the UI System Manager interface
- Navigate to Protocols > CIFS (ensure that CIFS is enabled)
- Click the Shares tab
- If a share to the
"/ddvar"directory path does not exist yet, then click Create, and enter the following details, or else ensure that the share is "Enabled":- Share Name = ddvar
- Directory Path = /ddvar
- Click the + button , clients = *
- Click Okay
Then open Windows finder on the PC:
- Navigate to \\<ddhostname/IP>
- Enter credentials if prompted
- You should see the
ddvarfolder. Double-click that. - Copy the .rpm file into the releases folder [not ddr-releases]
- Refresh the UI and the .rpm should appear
