Symptoms
SNMP has been enabled on port 161 to listen via UDP however it is not possible to connect the SCs or XMS server via the SNMP software.
The aim of the solution is to perform a scheduled poll of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) data via UDP port 161 with SNMP software for monitoring purposes.
The SNMP notifier details can be obtained as follows:
xmcli (tech)> show-snmp-notifier
Enabled: True
Recipients: xx.xx.xx.xx
SNMP-Version: v2c
Trap-Port: 161
Community: SVCNOW
User-Name: sxxxxx
Auth-Key: xxxxxxx
Priv-Key: xxxxxxx
Auth-Protocol: md5
Priv-Protocol: des
Engine-ID: 8xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
An SNMP community string is added on the XMS server however it doesn't connect with the SNMP monitoring software (Example: ServiceNow).
Typically SNMP agents listen on UDP port 161, asynchronous traps are received on port 162 which is advised for XtremIO.

Cause
On XtremIO, nothing is listening on UDP port 161 to poll SNMP data.
Resolution
XtremIO does not support SNMP queries as nothing is listening on UDP port 161.
The XMS can send the alerts to a SNMP server via port 162 with SNMP traps. This uses an XtremIO MIB which is a trap definition file that can be installed in an external trap receiver/SNMP trap and be used to parse XtremIO SNMP traps.
To implement this, follow the EMC XtremIO Storage Array User Guide which can be obtained via https:support.emc.com.
