Symptoms



AppSync does not support Linux devices that are of type GPT as seen in the fdisk -lu output on the Source host:
 
Disk /dev/sdd: 107.4 GB, 107374182xxx bytes, 20971xxxx sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk label type: gpt
Disk identifier: 24xxxx6A-B437-4B5B-80D3-BExxxxxEB67B

The import Volume Group of such devices may fail when mounting with the following as seen in the Service Plan events:
 
Mount copy,"Failed to perform vgchange operation on volume group xxx_vg_mydata_1dd6f75xxxx. See agent logs for more details. If the operation has timed out, retry after increasing the agent command timeout value for the host from Settings > Servers page in the AppSync UI.",
Mount copy,Unable to mount the filesystem /myFS. The mount point /myFS is in use.,


Cause

AppSync does not support GPT devices on Linux.

Resolution

Refer to the AppSync Support Matrix dated February 5th 2018 where it states:
 
AppSync does not support Microsoft GPT partitioned devices on Linux
