Symptoms
The issue has been caused by a change in the Indexer 11 ISYS code present in newer versions than 7.1, that extracts encrypted data from the .enc2 files as keyword searchable data at a larger rate than in older versions.
Support has found that SourceOne 7.1 and older versions are also scrapping garbage as searchable data from enc2 encrypted files but at a lower rate.
Scrapping data from encrypted files has no practical use on searches. Engineering has changed the code in order to skip enc2 files from being scrapped at all. Only file metadata is extracted and available for search.

This problem is caused by a software defect cited under SDR 60783.
Resolution
The issue will be resolved in an upcoming Hot Fix Bundle.
