Symptoms

During the clone operation:

  • The source and target volumes are automatically mapped to the primary VASA Provider.
  • The VASA Provider performs I/O operations on both source and target volumes.
  • The volumes are automatically unmapped from the VASA Provider.

Scenario

Source and target datastores are vVol-based.
Source and target datastores are associated with the same ScaleIO backend system.

According to VASA design, vSphere may delegate storage clone operations to the storage provider.
