Symptoms

Configuring an SNMP server that is down or nonexistent prevents SNMP traps from being sent for alert notifications.

Attempts to contact the SNMP server may cause PowerStore Manager slowdowns.

Cause

The SNMP Trap sending code is blocking Control Path (management services) while trying to contact a nonexistent or nonaccessible server.

Resolution

This issue is resolved by ensuring that the SNMP server configured on the PowerStore is up and reachable.

In order to configure SNMP in PowerStore, both node management IPs must be used at the SNMP manager end.
