OpenManage: VLAN Deployment Template Details Lists Devices Not Associated

Symptoms

When reviewing the VLAN details of a deployment template's network settings, it lists devices that are not associated to the template.
  1. Browse to Configuration - Templates.
  2. Select template and click 'Edit Network.'
  3. From the 'Edit Network' screen, select 'VLANs.'
  4. Click the 'View Details' link under the 'Propagate VLAN settings immediately.'
  5. Device details window shows targets not associated to the template.

Cause

The web user interface leverages a profile service API call to pull in details of devices that are associated with the template.

https://<OME_IP_ADDRESS>/api/ProfileService/Profiles?$filter=TemplateName eq '<Template_Name>' and ProfileState eq 4&$top=100

The equal operator in the API call performs a wildcard search based on the template name <Template_Name>. If there are multiple templates that match this wildcard search, all associated devices are displayed in the VLAN details view.

Resolution

Being that this is only a web user interface display issue, there is no impact to the VLAN propagation actions for deployment.
VLAN propagation only runs against devices associated to the template. As a workaround, you may choose to rename the templates so their names are unique. Otherwise, the display issue can be ignored.
