Symptoms

Removing the protective film from certain Alienware monitor screens makes a tearing noise

A tearing noise is heard when the film is pulled off the lower monitor bezel. The noise stops when the last of the film is removed from the monitor.

Peeling the film of the screen of an Alienware curved OLED monitor

The noise is heard on the following Alienware Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) monitors:

  • Alienware 27 360Hz QD OLED Gaming Monitor AW2725DF (monitors manufactured after July 30, 2025)
  • Alienware 32 4K QD OLED Gaming Monitor AW3225QF (monitors manufactured after May 06, 2025)

Cause

The monitor bezel along the bottom of the monitor partially overlaps the protective film. This is causing the tearing noise when the film is peeled off from the top towards the bottom of the monitor.

Resolution

Note: This noise is expected in these circumstances.

Peeling the protective film off the monitor screen is not damaging the monitor or impairing it in any way.

This is not a problem with your monitor, it is only a noise heard during the removal of the protective plastic film.
