Prerequisites

  • Valid ProSupport 4 hour, ProSupport Plus, or ProSupport One entitlement, including ProSupport Plus Next Business Day (NBD) and ProSupport One NBD
  • If the system includes a managed ESXi based compute VMware HCI resource group, user must have the ESXi ISO and depot available to upload
  • Download the relevant version files from the PowerFlex support site. Below is an example of a PowerFlex appliance solution:

Dell Technologies now offers the service to perform this upgrade remotely. Use the My Service 360 page to determine if you are eligible for this upgrade assistance. If you are eligible for upgrade assistance and would like to schedule an upgrade performed by Dell, you may open a Service Request on Dell Support.

 
NOTE: Use service tag in the system and not the system serial number to raise the request.
 

Requirements for included software updates: 

  • PowerFlex core software must be on version 4.5 or later
    • 4.5 to 4.x upgrades are eligible 
    • 3.x to 4.x upgrades are not eligible 
  • Nodes to be upgraded must be fully managed, in a resource group, orchestrated by PowerFlex Manager
  • Active ProSupport 4 hr, ProSupport Plus, or ProSupport One contract including ProSupport Plus NBD and ProSupport One NBD
  • One upgrade per active service contract per year

    • The customer must download the upgrade image
  • FED Federal
    • If remote/connectivity is provided to the Dell RPS team

FAQ

Who is eligible for these upgrades? 
Any PowerFlex rack or appliance customer that has active ProSupport contracts and meets the environment conditions: 

  • PowerFlex core software must be on 4.5 or later 
  • Nodes must be fully orchestrated by PowerFlex Manager to be upgraded. For example, resource group (group of nodes) in 'reserved mode' are not eligible. 


What team provides the upgrade?  
Dell Remote Proactive Service (RPS) team coordinates and carries out the upgrade.  

Must this upgrade service be purchased?  
No, the upgrade service is in ProSupport suite contracts. 

What level of ProSupport includes upgrades?  
Active ProSupport 4 hr, ProSupport Plus, or ProSupport One contracts are eligible.  

When can the upgrade be scheduled? 
Customers can start scheduling the upgrades starting August 04, 2025.
