Instructions

ECS: How to enable CAS SDK logging on the ECSSync server.
ECSSync is having issues migrating clips from Centera to ECS.

Additional Information

ECSSync is an external OpenSource tool, developed by the Object Dell Technologies Development team.

Its purpose is to migrate data from legacy storage (Centera or ECS Gen2 for example) to ECS.

When ECSSync is having issues migrating clips from Centera to ECS, it can be useful to enable CAS SDK logging on the ECSSync server to help troubleshoot the issue.

WARNING!

  • Do NOT attempt to migrate many clips with SDK logging enabled as SDK logs are verbose and could fill the mount point.
Running the migration with 10 problematic clips should be enough to help determine the root cause.
  • Do NOT leave the logging enabled.

  1. Enable SDK logging on the ECSSync server by issuing the following command.
export FPLIBRARY_LOG_FILE_DEBUG=/root/castools/CenteraToolsEx/SDK.Log
  1. Re-run the ECSSync migration with 10 problematic clips in the same shell.
  2. The SDK log file for the ECSSync migration is saved at /root/castools/CenteraToolsEx/SDK.Log
Review the logfile to help identify the root cause of the migration issue.
  1. To ensure the SDK logs do not grow further, do not make any further CAS SDK calls in your shell.
Exit putty to kill the shell or unset the FPLIBRARY_LOG_FILE_DEBUG to ensure no further SDK logs are generated by any subsequent CAS SDK calls.
