PowerEdge: Emulex LPe35002-M2-D Fails to Boot Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Symptoms

After successful installation of the operating system and on subsequent reboot, the server fails to boot to the operating system.

Cause

There are two issues that led to this state.

  1. While trying to log in into the fabric and a Port Login (PLOGI) reject is the response, but it is leveraging the wrong path.
    • To address this, change the process to confirm it is using the Fabric Port (F-PORT) path, and move the routine to it if necessary.
  2. While responding to Process Login (PRLI), it erroneously uses the PLOGI Originator Exchange Identifier (OXID.
    • To address this, change the process to respond with PRLI OXID.

Resolution

This is fixed in Emulex LPe35002-M2-D firmware update ETA Q3 2024.

This may also be seen on other versions of the Linux operating system.
