Unisphere for VMAX is Not Accessible after Adobe Flash End of Life
Summary: Access to the emgmt Unisphere for VMAX is unavailable since the End of Life (EOL) of Adobe Flash on January 12, 2021,
Symptoms
On arrays running 5977.1131.1131 code or earlier, the embedded manager has the Unisphere instance that uses Adobe Flash. Due to the EOL of Adobe Flash on January 12, 2021, the embedded Unisphere is unavailable, and access to manage the array is lost when using eMGMT.
Cause
Adobe Flash Player reached its end-of-life (EOL) on January 12, 2021, and is no longer supported by Adobe.
Resolution
Higher versions of Unisphere do not use Adobe Flash, Unisphere v9.0 and later use HTML5. Standalone versions of this can be set up at any point. This is recommended for backup management and for use while the array is being upgraded.
For eMGMT instances, the array must get to 5978.221.221 code or later to have an embedded Unisphere using HTML5. Arrays that can go to this code are VMAX All Flash Arrays (models 250F, 450F, and so forth) and PowerMax Arrays (2000, 8000, and so forth).
Arrays that are earlier than these models are not able to go to 5978 code, and a standalone instance must be set up. A standalone instance of Unisphere is a Virtual Machine or physical server with gatekeeper devices. This must have a version of Solutions Enabler that is installed to communicate with the array. The installation files can be downloaded from the Dell support site.
