DLMHOST - DLMHOST STC log destination issue

Summary: DLMHOST started task sample JCL from older versions specifies EOL console name parm.

This article applies to This article does not apply to This article is not tied to any specific product. Not all product versions are identified in this article.

Symptoms

The DLMHOST STC output is being directed exclusively to the z/OS system log.

Cause

Older versions of the DLMHOST started task JCL in the samplib provided by Dell Technologies contained a parm value for console name.  That parm was EOL and can cause unpredictable results for the DLMHOST log output.

Resolution

Use only the parms specified for DLMHOST in the DLm z/OS Utilities / Command Processors Guide.

  • COL 1-10 VTE NODENAME
  • COL 12-15 COMMAND DEVICE (CMDDEV)
  • COL 17-20 LOG DEVICE (LOGDEV)
  • ** COL 22-29 CONSOLE NAME (CONSNAME)    <-- This is EOL.  Do not use this parm for DLMHOST

  • example:
    VTLNODE1   07EF 07FF TAPECON1
    VTLNODE2   08EF 08FF TAPECON2
    VTLNODE3   01FE 01FF TAPECON3
    VTLNODE4   06FE 06FF TAPECON4

Parms in red text may misdirect DLm VTE log output.  Only use the parms / columns defined in the DLm z/OS Utilities / Command Processors Guide.
