PowerFlex: How to understand the SupportAssist registration number (ELMV) and the cluster SWID (ELMSIO)

Instructions

Required ELM for each product when registering to SupportAssist (Alert Connector):

  • ELMVXFxxxxxxxxxx = PowerFlex Appliance
  • ELMVXRxxxxxxxxxx = PowerFlex Rack
  • ELMSIOxxxxxxxxxx = Software Only (available only for PF version 4.x)

Steps to find each ELM:

1. ELMSIOxxxxx (storage license or cluster SWID):
  • PF version 3.X: Presentation Server> Settings (gear icon) > License Information > SWID
  • PF version 4.X: PowerFlex Manager> Settings > Licenses 
2. ELMVXRxxxxx and ELMVXFxxxxx:
  • PF version 3.X:  PowerFlex Manager> Settings > Virtual Appliance > Alert Connector
  • PF version 4.X:  PowerFlex Manager> Settings > Events/Notification Policies > SupportAssist
Note 1: Do NOT use the ELMSIO (also known as cluster SWID or storage license) to register Rack or Appliance to SupportAssist.
Note 2: All three PowerFlex solutions have a ELMSIOxxxxxxxxxx, but only PowerFlex Rack and Appliance have a ELMVXxxxxxxxxxx assigned to them.
