Cause

The service which checks the status of the Dell Management Server Virtual components fails to detect the core server as listening because netstat, part of the net-tools package, is not installed.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Dell Management Server Virtual administration console.
Note:
  • The default credentials for Dell Security Management Server Virtual are:
    • Username: delluser
    • Password: delluser
  • An administrator can change the default password within the product’s virtual appliance menu.
  1. From the Main Menu, select Launch Shell and press Enter.

  1. Change user to dellsupport with the command su dellsupport

  1. Confirm the password for the dellsupport user.

  1. Check the status of netstat with the command netstat --version.
  2. If netstat is not installed, you see the following error.

  1. Run the command sudo apt install net-tools to install net tools.
  2. Run netstat --version again to verify that netstat is now installed.

  1. Type exit and press Enter to log out of dellsupport.
