DDPM install and first launch take longer than expected
Installation times can vary for DDPM depending on the update size, system specifications, and your Internet speed. Dell Technologies expects that most installations complete within 20 minutes but some can take longer. You can experience up to 5 minutes of loading time, especially when launching the application for the first time.
Note: Times vary depending on the age and specification of the device that you install to.
Cause
The Engineering team advises the following:
- Performance varies depending on the product and the number of applications and services that are running.
- Longer times can be expected in corporate environments using security tools.
- Dell Core Service (DCS) can take most of the time during the installation process.
Resolution
Note: You must have administrator rights on your device to make any operating system changes or update any software.
The application is behaving as expected. The Engineering team checks several recent Dell products to see what the typical times for installation and first launch are:
- Using DDPM (Win v2.0) the time taken to install the application takes around 4 minutes.
- Using DDPM (Win v2.0) and after rebooting the device, it takes around 16 seconds to launch.
