Symptoms
While using the ipmitool with a Unity array, you are unable to initiate a Serial Over Lan (SOL) connection.
Error message:
Error activating SOL payload: Unspecified error
Cause
This happens when your old ipmi session becomes stale.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, run a sol deactivate command. For example:
ipmitool.exe -I lanplus -C 3 -U console -P APM00xxxxxx -H 128.221.1.252 sol deactivate
To start a new session issue the sol activate command. For example:
ipmitool.exe -I lanplus -C 3 -U console -P APM00xxxxxx -H 128.221.1.252 sol activate
