Dell Repository Manager overview:

Parts of a Repository
    • Repository - Full list of Bundles UI representation of a catalog
    • Bundle - Name for a group of updates for a particular server model and operating system
    • DUP - Dell Update Package The list of updates under a bundle

Repository Option - Manual:

Manual Repository Features
    • Most commonly used
    • Can select all models or granularly limit which models.
    • Can select all operating system or limit it to one.
NOTE: Catalog Export for iDRAC Updates needs a Windows Repository. Smart Bootable .iso needs a Linux Repository.
    • Can select all components or limit it to a small group.

NOTE: It can be difficult to limit components in this wizard and get everything you want. Often better to get all and delete the ones you do not want.

Creating a Manual Repository
    • Select the Added Repository option in the upper left.
    • Name the Repository
    • Change the Base Catalog if not using the Default Dell Online.
    • Under Manual Tab, select at least one System Model.
    • Then Select at least one Operating System.
    • Then Select all components or granularly select a group.
    • Now select Add in the bottom right.

Repository Option - Inventory:

Inventory Repository Features
    • Created from an inventory.xml that can be exported from the CMC.
    • Specific use case to match repository for specific modular setups.

Create an Inventory Repository.
    • Export an inventory.xml from a valid CMC.
M1000E Example: Server Overview > Update > Save Inventory Report
    server component update

    • In the DRM UI, select the Added Repository option in the upper left.
    • Name the Repository
    • Change the Base Catalog if not using the Default Dell Online.
    • Change to Inventory Tab.
    • Upload the Inventory.xml pulled from the CMC and what operating system you may want.

Troubleshooting an Inventory Repository
    • The only reason that it fails is if the .xml is in an invalid format.
    • Re-export from a CMC and do not edit.

Repository Option - Integration:

Integration Repository Features
    • Creates a repository by linking with a pre-existing inventory pulled by a Dell Console
    • Communicates to the remote console using port 443
    • Easiest way to use existing monitoring to tailor the repository and minimize catalog size.
    • Supports OpenManage Enterprise, iDRAC, OMIVV, OMIMSSC

NOTE: Dell Console Integration appears to be an unneeded legacy choice.

Create an Integration Repository.
    • In the DRM UI, select the Added Repository option in the upper left.
    • Name the Repository
    • Change the Base Catalog if not using the Default Dell Online.
    • Change to Integration Tab
    • Choose the Console to connect to, and credentials.
NOTE: Wizard says IP but hostname, and FQDN are valid as well.
    • Depending on the Console will be asked to select a Group(like OpenManage Enterprise) or list of known servers(OMIVV/OMIMSSC)

Troubleshooting Integration Repository
    • Since it uses port 443, it should largely work except permissions.
    • Rule out DNS if using hostname/FQDN
    • For Windows DRM use Wireshark and Linux, use TCPDUMP to packet capture why it is failing.
