When customer opens SQL Server Configuration Manager in SQL Server the error message is: "Cannot connect to WMI provider. You do not have permission or the server is unreachable.

Cause

It is a Microsoft WMI issue as per the Microsoft KB article:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/tools/error-message-when-you-open-configuration-manager This hyperlink is taking you to a website outside of Dell Technologies.

"This problem occurs because the WMI provider is removed when the customer uninstalls an instance of SQL Server. The 32-bit instance and the 64-bit instance of SQL Server share the same WMI configuration file. This file is located in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\xxx\Shared" folder.

This can sometimes happen during SQL updating.

Resolution

If restarting of WMI service on the affected SQL client does not resolve the issue, follow as per Microsoft KB:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/tools/error-message-when-you-open-configuration-manager This hyperlink is taking you to a website outside of Dell Technologies.

To work around this problem, open a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
For example: For Windows SQL 2008/ R2 server the command line is:
mofcomp "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"
Later versions SQL 2022
mofcomp "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\160\Shared\sqlmgmprovider.mof"

After that make sure, customer can open SQL Server Configuration Manager in SQL Server without any error and the SQL client can browse in Avamar Admin GUI or AUI --> Backup and all instances/DBs are listed.
