Symptoms

NVIDIA HGX H100 Baseboard firmware DUP update may fail when running firmware update operation by iDRAC. By design, the GPU Baseboard information is not listed on the iDRAC inventory screen when the system is powered OFF. This causes the firmware DUP installation to fail the inventory check.

Below is an example of iDRAC firmware inventory when the system is Powered ON and has an HGX H100 GPU installed.

Cause

By design the GPU Baseboard information is not listed on the iDRAC inventory screen when the system is powered OFF.

Resolution

By design, the GPU Baseboard information is not listed on the iDRAC inventory screen when the system is powered OFF.

To resolve this issue, power ON the server and then perform the GPU Baseboard firmware installation using the iDRAC.
