How to Install the Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent

This article covers the installation process for the Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent.

Click Windows, macOS, or Linux for the steps to install the Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent.
Windows
The Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent can be installed on Windows through the user interface (UI) or command-line interface (CLI). An administrator may then Confirm the Agent Installation. Click the appropriate process for more information.
- As an administrator, double-click the
taegis-agent_[VERSION]_x64.msiinstaller file.
Note:[VERSION]= The version of the .msi installer file - The Taegis Agent Setup Wizard appears. Click Next to proceed.

- Click Next.

- Populate your Registration Key and Registration Server, then click Next.
Note:- The Registration Key is the key that is generated for any group that is created in Endpoint Management > Group Configuration. For more information about creating a group or locating the registration key, reference How to Create a Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent Group.
- The Registration Server is the registration server URL displayed in the Endpoint Management > Group Confirmation screen of the Secureworks Taegis XDR Console.
- Optionally, provide your host and port information for an environmental proxy server, if needed.
- Click Next.

- If User Account Control (UAC) is enabled, click Yes. Otherwise, go to Step 7.

- The Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent installs. Once the installation is complete, click Close to exit the installation wizard.

- Right-click the Windows start menu and then click Run.

- In the Run UI, type
cmdand then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER. This runs Command Prompt as an administrator.

- Type
msiexec /i [PATH] REGISTRATIONKEY=[REGISTRATION KEY] REGISTRATIONSERVER=[TAEGIS SERVER] /quiet /norestartand then press Enter.
Note:[PATH]= The full directory path to where thetaegis-agent_[VERSON]_x64.msifile is located.[VERSION]= The version of the .msi installer file[REGISTRATION KEY]= The key that is generated for any group that is created in Endpoint Management > Group Configuration. For more information about creating a group or locating the registration key, reference How to Create a Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent Group.[TAEGIS SERVER]= The registration server URL displayed in the Endpoint Management > Group Confirmation screen of the Secureworks Taegis XDR Console.- Optionally, add the
PROXY=switch and provide your host and port information for an environmental proxy server, if needed. For example, typemsiexec /i [PATH]\taegis-agent_[VERSION]_x64.msi REGISTRATIONKEY=[registration key] REGISTRATIONSERVER=[registration server] PROXY=[proxyserver:port] /quiet /norestartand then press Enter.
- Right-click the Windows start menu and then click Task Manager.

- From the Process tab, locate Taegis Agent Host and Taegis Agent Service in the Background processes list. If these cannot be located, contact Dell Support.

macOS
An administrator may Install the Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent and then Confirm the Agent Installation. Click the appropriate process for more information.
- Double-click the
Taegis-agent_[VERSION].pkgfile to start the installation process.
Note:[VERSION]= The version of the .pkg installer file - Click Continue.

- Click Install.

- Populate macOS administrative credentials and then click Install Software.

- Once the installation begins, a System Extensions Setup prompt appears. Populate Key and Server Name information, then click Start.
Note:- The Key is the key that is generated for any group that is created in Endpoint Management > Group Configuration. For more information about creating a group or locating the registration key, reference How to Create a Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent Group.
- The Server Name is the registration server URL displayed in the Endpoint Management > Group Confirmation screen of the Secureworks Taegis XDR Console.
- A System Extension Blocked prompt appears. Click Open Security Preferences.
Note: If there are more System Extension Blocked prompts after the first (Step 6), click OK on each of them. Security Preferences is only necessary to open one time (Step 6). - In the lower left corner of the Security & Privacy screen, click the padlock icon to unlock settings.

- Populate macOS administrative credentials.

- At the bottom of the settings, locate
Some system software was blocked from loadingand then click Allow.

- Select all instances of
SecureworksTaegisand then click OK.

- Click to Allow when prompted about allowing
SecureworksTaegisto filter network content.

- From the Privacy Tab of Security & Privacy, select
SecureworksTaegis,com.secureworks.agent.fim, andcom.secureworksagent.pro.

- Select Later when prompted about
SecureworkTaegisnot having full disk access until it is quit.

- Close the Security & Privacy settings.

- From the System Extensions Setup screen, click Close.
Note: A Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent Setup Screen may appear, stating "Agent does not have full-disk access enabled" with a red dot. This is expected, as the agent and operating system have not been restarted since we granted this right. - From the Install Secureworks Agent screen, click Close.

- Installation and configuration are now complete. Click the Apple logo on the top-left corner and select Restart.

- After macOS has restarted from software installation, open the
SecureworksTaegisapp.

- The Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent Setup screen is displayed. Confirm that there are green dot statuses for System Extensions, Full Disk Access, and Connection Status.

- The Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent is successfully installed and registered. If there are red dot statuses for any items from Step 2, contact Dell Support.

Linux
The Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent can be installed on Linux using the .deb or the .rpm. An administrator may then Confirm the Agent Installation. Click the appropriate process for more information.
- Open Terminal.
Note: Optionally, the CTRL+ALT+T keyboard combination can be used to launch Terminal. - Type
sudo apt install [PATH]/taegis-agent_[VERSION]_amd64.deband then press Enter.
Note:[PATH]= Path to the .deb file[VERSION]= The version of the .deb installer file
- Once the agent is successfully installed, it must be registered. Type
sudo /opt/secureworks/taegis-agent/bin/taegisctl register --key [REGISTRATION KEY] --server [TAEGIS SERVER]and then press Enter.
Note:[REGISTRATION KEY]= The key that is generated for any group that is created in Endpoint Management > Group Configuration. For more information about creating a group or locating the registration key, reference How to Create a Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent Group.[TAEGIS SERVER]= The registration server URL displayed in the Endpoint Management > Group Confirmation screen of the Secureworks Taegis XDR Console.
- A
registration successmessage is displayed when registration is successful.
Note: If registration fails, collect logs to help troubleshoot the registration failure. For more information, reference How to Collect Logs for Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent.
- Open Terminal.
Note: Optionally, the CTRL+ALT+T keyboard combination can be used to launch Terminal. - Type
sudo rpm -i [PATH]/taegis-agent_[VERSION]_x86_64.rpmand then press Enter.
Note:[PATH]= Path to the .rpm file[VERSION]= The version of the .rpm installer file
- Once the agent is successfully installed, it must be registered. Type
sudo /opt/secureworks/taegis-agent/bin/taegisctl register --key [REGISTRATION KEY] --server [TAEGIS SERVER]and then press Enter.
Note:[REGISTRATION KEY]= The key that is generated for any group that is created in Endpoint Management > Group Configuration. For more information about creating a group or locating the registration key, reference How to Create a Secureworks Taegis XDR Agent Group.[TAEGIS SERVER]= The registration server URL displayed in the Endpoint Management > Group Confirmation screen of the Secureworks Taegis XDR Console.
- A
registration successmessage is displayed when registration is successful.

- Open Terminal.

- In Terminal, type
sudo /opt/secureworks/taegis-agent/bin/taegisctl statusto confirm that the agent is successfully registered.Agent is Registeredshould have a status oftrue.

- If the agent is
not running(Step 2), typesudo /opt/secureworks/taegis-agent/bin/taegisctl startand then press Enter.

- Type
sudo /opt/secureworks/taegis-agent/bin/taegisctl statusand then press Enter. The agent status displaysrunning.
