Scan to USB Drive
Dell laser MFPs with a front USB port support scanning directly to USB memory devices. Check your user guide for detailed instructions for your model.
In general ensure that the USB device has sufficient free space for the scanned images and is formatted to a compatible file system.
Scan Over USB Connection
Scanning over a USB connection requires that the scanner TWAIN or WIA driver is installed. The driver is provided on the installation CD bundled with the printer or can be downloaded from the Dell support site.
Additionally, software to capture the image is required, though this can be as simple as Microsoft Paint or the Windows Fax and Scan Tool.
Check your user guide for detailed instructions for your model.
Scan Over Network Connection
Scanning over the network is usually achieved by either:
- Having network scan software running on your PC to "listen" on the network for scans being sent. This is more common on Dell Mono MFPs. The software is provided on the installation CD bundled with the printer or can be downloaded from the Dell support site.
- Scanning directly to a SMB share (Windows shared folder). This is more common on Dell Color MFPs.
Scan to Email
Please note that SSL or TLS encryption may not be supported as part of your device's scan to email feature.
Check your user guide for detailed product specification and setup guides.
