Dell Latitude 7320 Detachable unexpectedly goes to sleep when turning the keyboard 360° to use the computer as a tablet.

Cause

 

This is expected behavior when the keyboard is turned around with tension on the connector to the computer as shown in figure 1. The magnet in the keyboard that usually triggers the sleep closing the lid in clamshell mode affects the same sensor but on the back.

Resolution

 

Turning the keyboard with such tension is not supported as it almost disconnects the keyboard from the computer and may damage the keyboard-internal cable.

The keyboard can be turned over without such tension, that is, folding it next to the active pen rest like shown in figure 2 and 3.
