Symptoms
Replication fails with the following error:
ARP0030: Storage_unit: Replication job was unsuccessful for FILE_SYSTEM C:\ on datadomain_hostname to datadomain_hostname because of data movement error.
Failed to processCopies. Replication failed for these source backup copies: policy_name=C:\ subType=NTFS<< copySetId=2b90bd5c-4dec-5ee1-bbc8-24a38a2a2df2, backupLevel=FULL startTime=2023-12-28T08:00:56Z endTime=2023-12-28T08:01:02Z - Error details: *** - error-code=[5956], error-message=[*** ... ***, null], src-file=[PLCTLP-9378d01c-1ef6-47f1-bf87-8fb47b9d381a/asset_hostname/1/2.0/data_ss/_ts10k_170375/1703750456.ss], src-status=[COMPLETED], dst-status=[ERROR] *** - error-code=[5956], error-message=[*** ... ***, null], src-file=[PLCTLP-9378d01c-1ef6-47f1-bf87-8fb47b9d381a/asset_hostname/1/2.0/meta_rec/_ts10k_170375/1703750456.rec], src-status=[COMPLETED], dst-status=[ERROR] *** - error-code=[5956], error-message=[*** ... ***, null], src-file=[PLCTLP-9378d01c-1ef6-47f1-bf87-8fb47b9d381a/asset_hostname/1703750456], src-status=[COMPLETED], dst-status=[ERROR] >>

The dst-status is ERROR. Err: 5956-nfs setattr failed (nfs: Illegal maximum retention time) *** - error-code=[5955], error-message=[*** ... ***, null], src-file=[PLCTLP-aa19047b-9bc6-4a49-bcfb-099ea5099bb7/Backups/5810bf62-d507-42ba-a547-fe9708d10391/50305398-7a91-cf85-2b2a-9259a40e86af/1683540026786117837/vm-46418-disk-key-2000.vmdk], src-status=[COMPLETED], dst-status=[ERROR]
The main part of the message:
Err: 5956-nfs setattr failed (nfs: Illegal maximum retention time)
Retention lock is enabled on the Data Domain.
Cause
The max retention period on the Data Domain is set to a smaller time period than the retention set in the replication policy. This causes the replication job to fail.
Resolution
Ensure the max retention period on the data domain is the same as or longer than the retention period set in the replication policy.
You can check the data domain max retention period using the following command on the Data Domain:
This can be fixed by either:
1. Change the retention on the replication policy to be the same or lower than the max retention period set on the DD.
OR
2. Change the max retention period on the DD to be the same or longer than the retention on the replication policy.
You can change the max retention period on the Data Domain using the following command. You must have security officer authority.
Periods can be given in the following metric units.
